Sansevieria - Snake Plant
Medium light: Even though Sansevierias prefer medium light (which is about 10′ away from the west or south window), they’ll also tolerate low light and high light. How versatile they are!
Temperature: Sansevierias will tolerate a wide range of temperatures in our homes. If your house is comfortable for you, it’ll be so for your Snake Plants. Just keep them away from cold drafts and heating or air conditioning vents.
Water: Make sure the soil is almost completely dry before thoroughly watering again.
Humidity: Grows well in high humidity levels and dry conditions. Keep it away from air vents or drafts as this can dry out your plant.
Soil: Succulent and cactus mix combined with potting soil in a ratio of 1:1. If the mix seems too heavy, add in a few handfuls of pumice or perlite to up the ante on the aeration and drainage factor.
Feed: During the Spring/Summer growing season use a weak all-purpose liquid fertiliser once per month. Sanseveria are low maintenance plants which don't require a lot of feeding.
Tips: In lower light conditions, the darker leafed species and varieties ( like S. trifasciata & Sansevieria hanhnii jade) do better and are the ones you should buy. Snake Plants with brighter variegations will become less intense and patterned in low light.
Botanical name: Sanseveria trifasciata
Nickname: Snake plant, Mother in Law's Tongue and viper's bowstring hemp.
Plant type: Evergreen perennial.
Air purifying: Yes. A great plant to have in the home to eliminate airborne toxins.
Plant height: ~30cm (not including nursery pot).
Nursery pot size: 12cm
Pet/baby safe: Mildly toxic if eaten. Keep away from children and animals.
Sansevieria Black Dragon has rich, glossy, dark green succulent leaves. This hybrid Bird's Nest form is beautifully small and compact and is unusual in that the leaves are unvariegated. A real living sculpture for a shelf or small table. Sansevieria readily adapt to different light levels. The deep green-black colouring of Black Dragon will intensify in shade and become a vibrant, lustrous green with more light. Please note: some scaring may occur on the leaves.

Why does my plant look different from the website?
Live plants and small-batch pottery will have variations in colour, texture, finish, and size. While we make every effort to display our potted plants as accurately as possible, there may be subtle differences from what is displayed online.
Due to the sensitive nature of live plants, we do not accept returns on any plant items. We want you to be happy with your plants. Please contact us if you have any concerns about your order.
